Dabdoob vs FirstCry vs Mothercare vs Mamas & Papas: Kids Stores Compared
Choosing where to buy for a child is not only about price. Range, delivery, returns and the terms of a code all matter, and different stores suit different purchases. This guide compares four stores that serve families in the Gulf, using the terms we have on record.
The four stores
- Dabdoob: the Gulf's kids' toys and essentials store.
- FirstCry: a store for baby, kids and moms, with a code for Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
- Mothercare: clothing and essentials for moms and babies.
- Mamas & Papas: baby and nursery products, with a code for the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Codes at a glance
| Store | Code | Terms |
|---|---|---|
| Dabdoob | EK6 | 10% off |
| FirstCry | AFE11 (Saudi Arabia and UAE) | 10% off |
| Mothercare | VPIEA | 5% off |
| Mamas & Papas | MPB6 | 10% off (store exclusion list applies) |
What the terms mean in practice
Three of the four stores offer 10%, so the percentage is not what separates them. The conditions are. FirstCry's code is a plain 10%, so check the final total on bulky essentials before you order. Mamas & Papas has an exclusion list at the store, which means some products will not qualify, so check your main items before you build the basket. Mothercare's 5% is the smallest rate, but it can still be useful for a branded clothing item you have already decided to buy. Dabdoob's code is a plain 10%.
Which store for which purchase
Toys and birthday gifts
Dabdoob is built around toys and gifts, so start there. Compare the final price with the other stores if you are buying a larger set.
Clothing and everyday items
FirstCry covers a wide range for babies and kids, and its code is available for both Saudi and UAE shoppers. Mothercare is worth comparing for baby clothing and maternity items.
Nursery and larger newborn purchases
For cots, strollers and nursery furniture, Mamas & Papas is a natural place to look. Read the exclusion list first, since larger items are sometimes the ones excluded, and check delivery arrangements for bulky products.
Safety checks before you buy
- Check the age rating on toys. Small parts are a choking hazard under three years old.
- For car seats, check that the model fits your car and matches the child's weight and height.
- Avoid second-hand car seats and cot mattresses where possible.
- Read the care label on newborn clothing and wash before first wear.
Do not overbuy
Children grow quickly. Buying many items in one size means many will never be worn. Buy a few in the current size and a few in the next, and keep gift receipts for exchanges.
Think about returns and exchanges
Children change size and taste quickly, so the exchange policy matters as much as the code. Before paying, check how many days you have, whether tags must stay attached, and who covers return shipping. Keep gift receipts so a duplicate or a wrong size can be swapped without stress.
A short routine for a store comparison
- Write the list with sizes.
- Price the three or four biggest items at two stores.
- Apply the code and note the real final total, including delivery.
- Check the return window and condition rules.
Plan by age stage
Newborn needs are different from toddler needs. In the first months, prioritise safe sleep, feeding and a few outfits. From about one year, toys, shoes and sturdier clothing take over. Matching purchases to the current stage keeps the budget focused and avoids buying items the child will skip.
Note: codes, discounts and terms can change at any time. Please check the terms at checkout before you pay.
